Oh My Rockness

You don't need me to tell you about Built to Spill or what they sound like or why you should go see them (ok, think quirky rock with hints of Modest Mouse and Pinback and amazingly long guitar solos). What I will tell you is this: I know for a FACT that Julia Stiles likes this band. How do I know? No big deal, I saw her IN PERSON at their show at Irving Plaza in 2001.

It just so happens that this was the very same year that "Save the Last Dance" came out so I'm not sweating it either. The Matt Damon flick, "The Bourne Identity," was but a glint in her "my-post-teenage-confidence-makes-me-sexy" eye, and the movie that turned Hollywood upside-down, "Mona Lisa Smile", was even further off than Julia Roberts' acting ability.

Doug Martsch can finally rest on his laurels knowing that the girl who shares a birthday with Vince Vaughn and Reba McEntire (thanks imdb!) has heard his little Idaho band and truly embraces the Built to Spill independent spirit.
