Oh My Rockness

Vivian Girls are three D.I.Y. ladies from Brooklyn that play something like doo-wop-punk-gaze. The trio makes music that's like The Muslims meets The Shangri-las meets My Bloody Valentine meets The Ronettes. They like to use lots of tech effects too, which sometimes make these short and snappy songs tread lightly into psych, and maybe even tap a toe or two into drone. So yeah, this is just more than three chords.

All three members (Cassie Ramone, Kickball Katy and Ali) sing, harmonizing over these raw, swirling sounds. Vivian Girls most recently played excellent shows with Love Is All and with Crystal Stilts (a perfect show partner). In The Red Records (The Ponys, Jay Reatard, Black Lips) will be re-issuing their debut album in the fall of '08. You'll keep hearing about this band.
