Oh My Rockness

M.I.A... I mean, Lady Sovereign... I mean, Lily Allen is just a kid in the U.K. who wants to share her songs with the world. She's been called an "internet sensation" which basically means she got a ton of hype before she even released a record. "First of all, I'd like to thank MySpace for making my career," she will one day say from the Grammy podium.

I'm not sure why Lily Allen's sound is so indie-friendly, or why the kids who normally go ga-ga over bands like Cold War Kids also seem to be down with Allen's dance-pop-piano shtick. To me, it just sounds like the stuff that was played on Saturday nights at the roller rink. But then again, here I am writing about her, so either she's got that something special that appeals to everyone, or I'm just a total hypocrite. Most likely it's both.
