((Chairlift)) Band Profile and Upcoming SXSW Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Brooklyn's Chairlift play spacy synth-pop with a retro psych-y feel. The trio is led by singer Caroline Polacheck whose sultry, and sometimes breezy, alto perfectly complements these moody keyboards and tenderly tapped beats (via drums and machine). Polachek's vocals remind us of Beach House, but you can also throw in some of Joanna Newsom's fragility, giving Chairlift's sound even more complexity.

You may know their song "Bruises," a cavity-causing confection recently featured in that iPod Nano commercial. But don't judge their book by that cover - the whole of their sound is darker, psychier.

Bros with Yeasayer and MGMT, Chairlift just signed to Columbia Records after a short stint on Kanine (Professor Murder, The Rumble Strips). World domination is imminent.
