((Pentimento)) Band Profile and Upcoming SXSW Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Written by Patrick McNamara

Buffalo's Pentimento has been a band since 2011 but I only first heard them recently. Luckily, I don't mind checking my pride and running back for the good things I might have mistakenly sailed by because sometimes you have to take a step backwards before you can move forward.

I stumbled on the band's album “I, No Longer" (which I later learned via my mad Internet research skillz was released in October of 2015 and is their second full-length album) I don't remember how I got to it but anyway I pressed play and then proceeded to listen to it straight through. And then I did this again and again and again. I listened to that thing from start to finish for the entire afternoon. It was one of my better recent days.

Pentimento plays the kind of euphoric emo that has always been close to my #heart. Shimmering Builds. Soaring Choruses. Super Harmonies. Fake Outs & Climaxes. A Singer Who Can Actually Hit The High Note. It's all here, man. At least it's all here if you're listening to “I, No Longer." If you explore the band's back catalog you'll notice they used to sound like a different band, basically, but that's a journey you can do on your own time. I'm not here to talk about the past because that's done I'm not here to discuss the future because tomorrow never comes I'm here to talk about the NOW.

If you like good emo I'm excited you can discover “I, No Longer" directly below these kind words because I went to the trouble of sourcing, copying, and pasting the album's embed code on my music blob for you. You can return the favor by buying the real live thing from Bad Timing Records and by remembering to visit very lovable little old Oh My Rockness every now and then.

This is good shit.

Amen.
