((Earlimart)) Band Profile and Upcoming SXSW Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Earlimart has moved away from their early Pixies-punk sound to become something completely different -- something soulful, something haunting. Singer/songwriter Aaron Espinoza sounds more like Elliott Smith these days, as his warm vocals lament love lost. These songs are sad affairs crafted with acoustic, piano-driven melodies. At times, strings and keyboards rise from the sparseness and crescendo over the sadness, in a way giving hope to the protagonists' plight.

Earlimart have long put away their distortion pedals. They focus now on creating achingly beautiful, subtle songs in which every lyric is heard and every note digested. If you're in a mellow mood on a Sunday and you've listened to Elliott Smith way too many times in one weekend, put on Earlimart. It'll be just what you want.
