((Mourn)) Band Profile and Upcoming SXSW Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Written by Patrick McNamara

Mourn are a chilly and fierce band of four young musicians (teenagers, all) from El Maresme, Catalonia, Spain* who shred the dark punk. Reverb, yelps, riffs. Check. Check. Check.

This band used to be a duo, but collaborators and bffs Jazz Rodríguez Bueno and Carla Pérez Vas (pictured) decided to bring on two more to add twice the punk (after the picture). We're loud. But we can go a little louder. Mourn was probably destined to be successful no matter what they did because how could good things not come to a person named Jazz? I wish my parents had thought of it.

Mourn's debut album (cryptically titled: Mourn) was recently released here in U.S.A. on “Captured Tracks." You like that label too, don't you? Of course you do. That's why we hang out sometimes. The band played all ten songs on that album live in the studio and the entire recording process took only two days - a feat so rare there is video proof to back up the outlandish claim. I will provide the evidence at the end of this band profile that, so far, is going really well.

Perhaps most impressive of all, Mourn just made their U.S.A. show debut TWO NIGHTS AGO at Baby's All Right in Brooklyn, NY and this fact will almost immediately outdate this band profile I never plan on updating. Oh well. Consider it a time capsule.

Anyway, you're gonna want to get on the ground floor of this goodness. Don't miss Mourn. You heard it here FOURTH.
